Steven Stamkos, born on February 7, 1990, is a Canadian ice hockey player who currently plays for the Nashville Predators in the NHL. He was the first overall pick in the 2008 NHL Draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning and won the Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy twice as the league’s top goal-scorer. Stamkos led the Lightning to two Stanley Cup victories in 2020 and 2021. He is of Macedonian and Scottish descent, grew up in Unionville, Ontario, and played minor hockey for the Markham Waxers.
